The Challenge
The studio was launching a AAA open-world RPG simultaneously across 4 platforms. With 100+ hours of content, thousands of interactive elements, and complex AI-driven NPCs, the testing matrix was enormous. Previous multi-platform launches had been plagued with platform-specific bugs.
Our Solution
We deployed 80 QA testers organized by platform expertise and game systems. Testing covered main story progression across all branching paths, combat system balance and fairness, open-world exploration and edge-case scenarios, and platform-specific certifications for Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo.

Our testing organization mirrored the game’s structure — dedicated teams for combat, exploration, narrative, UI, and platform certification. Daily coordination meetings ensured cross-team issues were quickly identified and escalated.
Open-world testing required creative approaches. Beyond scripted test cases, we employed exploratory testing sessions where testers were given objectives designed to push the game’s systems in unexpected ways.
Platform certification testing started 6 months before submission, running preliminary checks against each platform holder’s TRC/TCR requirements. This early start allowed the development team ample time to address platform-specific requirements.
